Bautista caps off Misano weekend with Race 2 victory Bautista made it two wins out of three with P1 in Race 2 while Razgatlioglu broke his duck by winning the Tissot Superpole Race Race 2 highlights – WorldSBK
P1 – Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati)
Bautista won Race 2 after an early-race battle with Razgatlioglu, before escaping to win by more than seven seconds He extended his Championship lead to 36 points over Rea, the biggest gap there has been at the top this season so far.
“I’m happy because I can be fast but also, I can think on the bike. I can be calm and attack when I have to attack and do my best to not pass over the limit. I’m quite happy. I battled with Jonathan in the beginning and with Toprak and, in that moment, saw my pace could be a bit faster. I tried to get ahead like I did yesterday. It cost me some laps because the fight with Toprak was so nice. I enjoyed it a lot. In the end, I can increase my gap to Toprak and get the victory. I don’t think about the Championship. Three years ago, I think I was more than 60 points in front and then I lost the Championship by more than 150. In this moment, it’s too soon. I try to just be focused on the work that we are doing, enjoy the bike like I am doing and just get the maximum in all conditions. Sometimes, if I can fight for the win, I will fight. If I can fight for fifth, I will fight. The important thing is just to finish the races, get more information, and have more fun riding the bike.”
P2 – Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK)
After claiming his first 2022 win in the Tissot Superpole Race, Razgatlioglu finished in second position in Race 2 despite taking the lead on the opening lap. His second place means he claimed his 63rd WorldSBK podium. He remains third in the standings 79 points behind Bautista.
“In Race 2, I tried my best again in the very, very hot conditions. Last year, I don’t remember the weather like this. I tried my best again in the race. Alvaro was very fast, and in the straight the Ducati was very fast. Some sectors, I’m quicker. Some sectors, he’s fast. After 10 laps, he went alone. I said ‘okay, second position is enough for me today’.”
P3 – Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati)
Rinaldi claimed his second third position of the weekend after starting from 10th on the grid. He now has a record of 12 WorldSBK podium, including 5 on home soil.
“This afternoon, our strategy was to push really hard from the beginning because if not I would have lost the leading group. Then, after I passed Rea, I put my pace because Bautista and Razgatlioglu were too fast for me today. But I’m really proud of our recovery since Sunday morning.”
P4 – Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK)
After having been overtaken by Rinaldi, Rea was unable to follow him and crossed the finish line in fourth. It’s the first time this season Rea has finished a race outside the podium places. He maintains second place in the Championship with 184 points.
“I put up a fight at the beginning but when I’ve seen the pace of Bautista and Toprak especially, I knew it would be tough and then Rinaldi came past, it was all I could do. I was running myself into some mistakes. I had lost lots of rear entry traction so I as soon I released the brake I was having a front chatter. So it was almost the case of nursing my bike home considering the points and moving on.”
P5 – Iker Lecuona (Team HRC)
Lecuona took fifth place in Race 2, his sixth top-five finish so far this season. He stands in fifth place in the Championship standings, only 9 points behind fourth-placed Andrea Locatelli.
“Overall, I’m really happy. We didn’t expect this speed during the weekend. Starting from fifth in Race 2 helped me a lot to follow the top guys. I struggled with my rear tyre for the first laps. I didn’t feel comfortable. But in the end, I managed to be faster and I could create a gap to the guys behind me.”
P6 – Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK)
Locatelli completed Race 2 top six after losing out at the start of the race. He finished all three races at Misano in sixth place, and has only recorded one finish outside the top six all season
“It was a difficult weekend for me. But it’s been better than last year so it’s a good point for us. We need to continue to work on the bike to try to close the gap to the leader. It was also our first race in hot conditions this season so for sure, we learned some things about where we need to improve the bike and where I need to improve myself.”
To note: Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round official spectator attendance over three days: 65,825.
Axel Bassani (Motocorsa Racing) took seventh place despite losing out after making a superb start. Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), who have been given a Long Lap Penalty for track limits infringements in the race, finished in eighth.
Scott Redding (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) rounded out the top ten as the best BMW rider.
After a strong start to the race, Xavi Vierge (Team HRC) had a crash at Turn 11 on Lap 12 which ended his race. After being taken to the medical centre, Vierge was diagnosed with fractures to the base of his third metacarpal bone on his right hand and to his capitate and hamate bones on his right wrist.
The Prosecco DOC UK Round will take place from the 15th to 17th of June at Donington Park.
Three top five finishes for Team HRC on Sunday at Misano
Team HRC completes round four of the 2022 Superbike World Championship with three strong top five finishes for riders Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy. Vierge unfortunately suffered a crash in race 2, hitting his right hand quite hard.
At 11 am local time, the factory riders lined up for the 10-lap Superpole race. Getting away from the third row of the grid, Vierge and Lecuona were lying sixth and ninth through the first turns. The Team HRC duo pushed hard in the initial stages to move, respectively, into fifth and sixth by the end of lap two. On lap three, Vierge passed Rinaldi to take fourth and started to move in on Rea, third. Lapping with almost identical lap times, Xavi came within three tenths of the six-time world champion but was not quite able to get close enough to pass. An excellent performance nevertheless saw him cross the line fourth, less than a second from the podium. Lecuona battled it out with Rinaldi and Locatelli through the central part of this short race, moving into fifth on lap five, a position he was able to hold to the line to finish immediately behind his team-mate and gift Team HRC its first double top five finish of the season.
Thanks to their Superpole race results, Vierge and Lecuona started from fourth and fifth on the grid for race 2. Xavi held his starting position through the opening lap, his team-mate behind him in sixth. The pair were lying sixth and seventh on lap seven, after which Vierge pushed to close in on, and successfully pass, Bassani on lap ten. Xavi’s race was unfortunately brought to a premature end on lap twelve, when the Spaniard suffered a crash at turn 11, while fending off an attack from the Italian. Team-mate Lecuona continued to lap with consistent pace all the way to the line, passing Bassani, defending well, and ultimately crossing the line in fifth position, scoring more important championship points in the process.
After being checked by doctors at the circuit medical centre, Xavi has been diagnosed with some bruising and possible minor fractures. He will undergo further checks tomorrow once back in Spain.
Lecuona continues to hold fifth in the championship standings with 99 points while Vierge positions ninth with 63 points.
Xavi Vierge 97 SPR P4 RC2 DNF
“The crash was a real pity because we’ve had an incredible weekend and were running a really good second race. I think the other rider (Axel Bassani) overtook me, touching my front wheel, so I found myself in direct line with the wall and had to jump off the bike. I was lucky because I touched the ground at very high speed. After an initial check, it looks like I might have broken something in my right hand but nothing important. So first thing tomorrow I will undergo more comprehensive examinations to understand our next steps in order to be ready to ride as soon as possible. I want to say thank you so much to my team and technicians because they are doing an amazing job.” Iker Lecuona 7 SPR P5 RC2 P5
“Overall I’m really happy with our weekend here. I think both me and Xavi did not expect this kind of speed, but we’ve both been very fast, worked together and finished very close to the front in all three races. In race 1, I maybe struggled a bit more but then in the Superpole race I battled hard with Rinaldi and Locatelli. I lost some time as a result, but my pace was strong, and I knew I could fight for the top five again in race 2. Starting from the second row helped a lot, and even though I struggled with the rear tyre in the early stages, lap by lap I felt more comfortable and in the second part of the race I could ride really fast. I’m very happy for now; we’re just nine points from fourth in the championship and to have finished in the top ten in every race tells us that we’re on the right track.”
Bautista does the double with a second win at Misano. Spectacular comeback by Rinaldi from P10 to P3. Another podium for Buelga in WorldSSP
It was a fantastic weekend for the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team. After a spectacular Race-1, Alvaro Bautista and Michael Rinaldi repeated themselves also on Sunday at the Pirelli Emilia Romagna Round as they celebrated again on the podium in front of their home fans.
After securing P2 in the Superpole Race won by Razgatlioglu (Yamaha), Bautista got his second win of the weekend at the end of an exciting Race-2. The Spaniard’s feeling with the Ducati Panigale V4R was evident since the very first corners and allowed him to take the lead on lap 7 after a battle with Toprak to close the race with a wide margin under the chequered flag.
Michael Rinaldi – who was forced to start from tenth on the grid after a difficult Superpole Race – was the protagonist of a sensational first lap, n which he recovered six positions. On lap 4, the Italian rider attacked Rea (Kawasaki) and then he quickly defended the third position and his second podium of the weekend.
Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #19) “It was a very exciting weekend. The feeling with my Ducati has been excellent since Friday, although, honestly, in the Superpole Race, we had some difficulties. The team did a great job, and in Race-2, I felt comfortable right away. The race for the World Championship title? I am not concerned about the Standings and don’t care about the points lead. I only care about having the feeling that I am on the right path. I am very happy to have given such emotions to all the Ducatisti fans. We have to keep on!”
Michael Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #21) “I am very happy. Yesterday’s podium was perhaps unexpected. In Race-2, however, the feelings with the bike were very good. In the Superpole Race, we had a problem that did not allow me to be competitive and forced me to start from tenth on the grid. I got off well, knowing I had all the cards to get to the front. I dedicate this result to my team, to the many Italian fans who support me, and especially to my family.”
Just as it happened in Race-1, Nicolò Bulega managed to take the lead at the first corner. The Italian rider, however, made a mistake on lap 1 and dropped back into P7. His comeback was incisive, and already halfway through the race, he managed to get back to the podium area. The gap between Aegerter and Baldassarri, however, was too wide to be closed.
Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP) “I am happy because a podium is always a great result, especially in front of so many fans. Unfortunately, I made a mistake on the first lap when I inadvertently took the neutral gear. I went long, and from first, I found myself in seventh. I made a good comeback, even setting the fastest lap, but obviously, the first two were already too far. We have been fast all weekend, which means we are going in the right direction.”
WorldSBK at Misano: BMW Motorrad Motorsport gathers valuable information in preparation for the coming races.
BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team: Scott Redding shows good pace but struggles at the start; Ilya Mikhalchik makes good progress over the weekend. Bonovo action BMW Racing Team: top ten for Loris Baz in race two on Sunday; Eugene Laverty overcomes issues to finish in the points on both days.
Marc Bongers: “We must stick with it to make steady progress”.
Misano. After victories in the FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) and at the Isle of Man TT, BMW Motorrad Motorsport had a weekend with positive aspects but also difficulties in the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK). Round four of the 2022 WorldSBK season took place at Misano, Italy. The hard work put in by the two teams, the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team and the Bonovo action BMW Racing Team, was not reflected in the results at the Italian circuit, which has proved to be a tough place to visit already in the past. However, BMW Motorrad Motorsport did gather valuable information for the coming races which will now be analysed.
In the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, Scott Redding (GBR) was very happy with his race pace. He had issues at the start of the races, however, which resulted in him falling back through the field before having to fight his way back again. The Brit finished ninth in Superpole, then tenth, eleventh and ninth in the races. Ilya Mikhalchik (UKR), who was standing in for the injured Michael van der Mark (NED) at Misano, had difficulties at the start of the weekend but made consistent progress. He ended the weekend with an 18th and two 15th places to his name.
The Bonovo action BMW Racing Team struggled with technical issues at times at Misano. Loris Baz (FRA) and Eugene Laverty (IRL) did score points in both main races, but the team was denied the desired constant top-ten results – except for Baz’s tenth place in race two. A problem with his clutch had previously resulted in Baz dropping back to 15th in the opening race, and he crashed out of the Superpole race. Laverty came home 13th, 12th and 14th.
WorldSBK now takes a break for a few weeks. Round five of the season will take place from 15th to 17th July at Donington Park (GBR). BMW Motorrad Motorsport will go testing at Donington at the end of June.
Quotes after the Misano races.
Marc Bongers, BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director: “The weekend was not as satisfactory for us as we had hoped – neither with regard to the results nor the distance from the leaders. The top three or four positions are not achievable at the moment, that much is clear, but our goal is definitely to challenge for fifth place. In Sunday’s race, we showed that, as far as the lap times are concerned, we have the pace to compete in the group from fifth to eighth place. However, we had very bad starts – with Scott in particular – and consequently lost too much time in the opening laps. We could not recover from that. We must now find out what the cause was. It goes without saying that we must find even more pace from the bike. That goes for all four riders. We will now test at Donington on 28th June where we will try a few things out and focus more strongly on the start. Ilya had a tough weekend. After about 1,000 laps on Dunlop tyres and an endurance bike, it took him a while to adapt. What he then produced in the second main race was very pleasing. Loris was on a very similar level to Scott in race two, but had unfortunately had a little mishap in the morning’s Superpole race. He also struggled at the start, and with the clutch in general. Eugene also really struggled. The feedback from the riders is all very similar, and we must now deal with these points. All in all, we are not where we need to be. We must stick with it to make steady progress.”
Scott Redding, BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team (SP: 9 / R01: 10 / SP Race: 11 / R02: 9): “BMW experienced a difficult weekend here last year so we came in and used it a bit as testing. Actually I was able to carry on the pace from Estoril; that’s not too bad. To be honest, in the races, we had quite a good race pace to be in sixth or seventh position but I struggled all weekend getting off the start line – I did not get one good start, and it’s very important to get away on the first laps but I was going back to 16th, 17th or maybe 18th and then you are battling with the guys and lose five seconds on the first two laps. What was positive from the weekend was we had consistent race pace; that was quite good for us and I am feeling again a step better on the bike but we really need to bring some things that allow me to get off the start to be there. I think I deserve it. We have been working well, we have the pace but we give it away at the start so simple things that need to be fixed. We have a bit of a break now and I hope for Donington we will have a solution and keep going from there.”
Eugene Laverty, Bonovo action BMW Racing Team (SP: 17 / R01: 13 / SP Race: 12 / R02: 14): “It has been a really tough weekend. We have tried many things with the bike to try and improve our pace but it did not seem to have much impact so it was tough to make some progress but we did our best and this is the maximum we leave with this weekend. I can’t be happy with that, nor the team nor BMW. We all want to improve, we’ll keep working hard and try to return stronger in the next one because this is not satisfactory. For the next races at Donington, we need to be back in the top ten like at the first round at Aragón where we were strong but since then I have had difficulties so I need to get the good feeling back again.”
Loris Baz, Bonovo action BMW Racing Team (SP: 12 / R01: 15 / SP Race: DNF / R02: 10): “It has been a difficult weekend. It started with bad luck and it seemed like this bad luck was just following all weekend. I am sad also for the guys in the team, because all the mechanics, everybody works so hard. In the Superpole race I did not have a great feeling after technical issues in the warm-up, and in this race, the top nine is the only thing we are looking for to have points. I was tenth or 11th and I tried it, pushed too hard and crashed. Then I tried again in race two, like I never really gave up this weekend, but the maximum we could do was P10. I had some issue again with the clutch and the brakes but I managed to bring some points for the guys. Until the clutch issue came up on the final laps, it was not too bad, I was not too far away from Scott. Now we try again at Donington; we never give up.”
Ilya Mikhalchik, BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team (SP: 23 / R01: 18 / SP Race: 15 / R02: 15): “It was a quite difficult weekend for me. We were trying to analyse what we need to do to improve the bike and worked on it. For sure, I am maybe not satisfied with my positions because if we compare it with Aragón I am now something like seven bikes behind, but if we take the steps we made from the first practice to race two, every exit, every lap was a big improvement with the bike and with myself. I also got used more to the Superbike after racing on the endurance and the Superstock bike, and especially on Sunday I was really enjoying the bike. It was really nice to ride, even in hot conditions and we did not have any big problems with the bike. I was just trying to catch the front group and I finished race two only a few seconds from the top ten positions. This makes me quite happy and the most important is that we made a big job during the weekend with the team. So thanks to everyone in the team.”
SUPERPOLE RACE PODIUM FOR REA
Jonathan Rea took third place in the ten-lap Superpole Race at Misano and was then fourth in the full-distance Race Two. Alex Lowes took two eighth place finishes away from the final Misano race day after an intense weekend of action.
With the final race day of the Misano WorldSBK weekend proving to be hot and sunny from the start the Superpole Race got underway at 11.00 local time with the track temperature already around 40°C.
Jonathan was in the leading mix from the beginning of the ‘sprint’ race and would eventually finish third. Alex was eighth in the Superpole Race, which put him on the third row of the grid for the 21-lap finale.
In Race Two, the second long distance race of the weekend, the ambient temperature was 28°C and the track temperature was over 50°C.
In the beginning of the race Rea had to fight for track position and went from third to fourth on lap three. He could not get back into podium contention and ended up in fourth place.
Lowes had an even more dramatic Race Two, as he lost two places not one when dropping back to let a rider through after overtaking him under a yellow warning flag.
Unaware that he had later been given a track limits warning – for exceeding the edges of what is deemed to be the true racing surface – Alex was given a long lap penalty, which lost him his expected sixth place. In the end, he crossed the line in eighth place, still securing useful points.
In the overall championship standings Jonathan is still second with 184 points to Alvaro Bautista’s 220. Alex is seventh, with 75 points after finishing fifth, eighth and eighth at Misano.
After the completion of the Misano weekend there will be a long break in the WorldSBK action, with the season restarting at Donington Park in the UK between 15-17 July.
Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team Rider): “I felt at the beginning of the Superpole Race I was OK but as soon as the pace stepped up I couldn’t really go with Toprak. He was on it and had a really good rhythm. Then with Alvaro as soon as he got clear track, he was gone. I felt that I was riding to get the maximum from the bike, but it wasn’t enough. I was getting frustrated because they were just going away. In the long race I was fourth in T1 but then I got track position behind Toprak and Alvaro. I just settled into a rhythm I thought was OK. I was really struggling with entering corners, with sliding that was causing the front to chatter. I just had a pace that wasn’t good enough and struggled with grip. I had 2-3-4 race finishes for the weekend and we go out of here in one piece, with some points. I think we maximised what we could do. When I raced with Alvaro out there I didn’t feel I had anything for him, to be honest. He was on a different level here. We will see what happens in Donington.”
Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team Rider): “What a shame that was. It was clearly tough conditions for us and our bike. I thought I had made a step but starting from the third row in the second race wasn’t going to be easy. I was in the battle for fifth but unfortunately I passed under a yellow flag, so when I raised my hand to let Lecuona go past, Lecuona and Bassani passed me, which put me further back again. I felt my pace was stronger than theirs but I just couldn’t get a rhythm. I couldn’t pass that was the biggest thing. I felt like I rode pretty well. A shame about the long lap but I didn’t get a warning on my dash display, just the long-lap penalty. If I had a warning I would have known not to go back on the green paint. The first long lap penalty for me in a race, so that was a new one, but it dropped us back and we finished eighth. Right now our bike is not loving the really hot sticky conditions, so we need to put our heads together and try to work on that. But I felt I did a good job. I will enjoy a pizza and a beer tonight with the family and come back in search of that first podium of the year first time out in Donington.”
Razgatlıoğlu Back to Winning Ways with Dominant Superpole Race Victory
Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK rider and defending FIM Superbike World Champion Toprak Razgatlıoğlu took his first victory of the season in style in the 10-lap Superpole Race at Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” in Italy this morning.
The Turkish ace followed this spectacular performance with a very strong second place in Race 2 after a fierce early battle with Alvaro Bautista (Ducati). Teammate Andrea Locatelli pushed hard to record two top six results in the hottest conditions of the season so far.
In the Superpole Race this morning, the team’s defending champion Razgatlıoğlu only gave Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea a brief look at a clear track at the end of lap one, before putting on a dominant display to win in front of the Italian fans with a relentless run of sub-1’34 lap times – setting a new race lap record in the process (1’33.722).
During the opening laps of Race 2, Razgatlıoğlu made a strong challenge for the race win, making some aggressive and opportunistic passes, before settling for a strategic second place to bring home 20 crucial championship points.
“Loka” fought hard in both races to maximise his results at home, and in front of his enthusiastic fan club, but was unable to improve on P6 in all three races. In Race 2, he showed grit and determination to fight back from some early mistakes and continue his consistent run of results finishing within the top six for the ninth-straight race in a row.
WorldSBK now has a four-week break before Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK’s home round at Donington Park in the UK from 15-17 July.
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu – SPRC: P1 / Race 2: P2
“I’m very happy for the win in the Superpole Race after the technical problem yesterday! But also in Race 1 I was feeling some problems with the performance, and this morning we made a big improvement and the bike is much better – I ride like my style and I am enjoying the race, I’m very happy for this! I enjoyed a lot! In Race 2, I try my best because very, very hot conditions, last year I don’t remember this weather. Also, Alvaro was very fast, very fast pace. Some sectors, I am coming back to him, some sectors he is very fast – after ten laps, I say okay second position is enough for me in this race, to risk more would be difficult. I hope again in Donington I am fighting for the win – I love the circuit, and to have this weekend finishing in a good way ready for the next round, I am very happy. One first position and one second position, we improve the bike a lot and this is good motivation for Donington.”
Andrea Locatelli – SPRC: P6 / Race 2: P6
“In the end we finish in P6-6-6, it was a difficult weekend for me here in Misano but for sure it was a big improvement with respect to last year which is a good point for us. We need to continue to work on the bike, and I need to trust myself on the bike to improve and to try to close the gap. We have a lot of data now, and it was the first race weekend in really hot conditions so we learned something about where we need to improve the bike set-up and where I need to improve myself. It is a good start to continue in these conditions.”
Paul Denning – Team Principal, Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK:
“After yesterday’s disappointment, Toprak’s team did an incredible job to first of all solve the fundamental problem and secondly, change the package to give Toprak something he could really get the best out of today. The dominant Superpole Race victory was just what we needed and he fought like an animal in Race 2, but didn’t have quite enough for a second victory. Congratulations to Toprak, his engineers and crew – we made a huge step today and this will take us forward to Donington in a much more confident mood. Loka’s results were a mirror of yesterday’s, but achieved in a different way. Race 2 saw him make a few errors in the first couple of laps, and it cost him a lot of track position but the positive aspect of the result was the way he kept digging in and pushing right to the end to secure another top six place which was excellent damage limitation. Thanks to all our partners and the huge number of fans that came to Misano this weekend, we hope they enjoyed the show!”
Bernardi shows real progress in race 2, another crash for Bayliss
The Barni Spark Racing Team’s Sunday ended with a P13 for the San Marino rider who showed great pace in race 2, while the Australian crashed on lap three of the Supersport race, having made a rookie mistake
In front of more than 65,000 spectators, the fourth round of the Superbike World Championship drew to a close today at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. It was a challenging weekend for the Barni Spark Racing Team, whose riders put in some good performances but also made some mistakes owing to inexperience.
Despite starting twenty-first on the grid, Bernardi was able to make up places in both the Superpole Race, which he finished fourteenth, and Race 2. The San Marino rider showed improvement but paid for a less than positive qualifying session. He made clear progress in race two though, picking up the pace with his Ducati Panigale V4 R and making a number of passes to score eventual thirteenth place, just a few seconds from the top ten. In total, Bernardi brought home five championship points over the weekend, taking his total tally to fifteen, which puts him in sixteenth place in the standings.
Bayliss has another disappointing day. Having start tenth, the Australian was battling in the middle of the group. After losing three places, stress caused him to immediately try to make a pass and catch up, but instead he crashed, also causing Orradre to fall at turn 14. Having crashed yesterday too, Oli holds 21 points in the championship standings and lies fourteenth overall.
“Oliver did very well in qualifying, but his lack of experience showed in the head-to-head battle that led to the crash. These things can happen when you’re helping young riders to develop, mistakes are part of the game. We’re making progress with both Oliver, who started tenth today, and with Luca, who is building confidence with the bike and is trying to adapt his style to exploit the potential of the V4R ».
Luca Bernardi, #29 (Superpole Race: P14 – Race 2: P13)
“The weekend was positive overall. We improved with respect to Friday and I’m gaining confidence with the bike. I’m only sorry that I wasn’t able to finish top ten, but I’m pleased because we’ve worked well and still have room for improvement.”
“It wasn’t the best weekend for us. Yesterday we completed a strong qualifying but then we didn’t finish either of the races. I’m really sorry for the team and for having involved Orradre in the crash. Now we’ll focus on making up for things at Donington.”
